The beginning of 2020 we were finishing off the last house and preparing to start our next house build. The news of covid-19 had broke over here in the UK and we were unsure how the year would pan out. The first lorry load of oak arrived end of January and the next delivered a few week later.

There were some huge timbers in this house with some of the Tie beams being 10 meters long. We even had to build a trailer to enable us to get the timbers into our workshop. There were over 60 natural curved braces which we cut in our mill. Framing started in the workshops straight away. Covid-19 had all ready reached the UK at this point and we kept a close eye (as I’m sure everyone else did ) on the situation.

On the 23rd of March Boris Johnson announced a national lockdown. We were one week away from completing the frame when we decided for the safety of our team and their families to close the doors. The design team carried on working from home to keep everything running smoothly. The team were off for 6 weeks until Boris said that construction could return to work.

We returned back to work on the 5th of May by the end of the that week we had completed the frame. A week later the frame was loaded up and taken to site to begin it journey to becoming a home.
