Description
A brand new tithe barn which was to become a wedding venue replacing the marquee used at the time. A spectacular project in many respects and has gone on to become the Kent Wedding Venue of the Year 2012 and has been shortlisted every year since! This build could correctly be termed as ‘epic’. Joining the process very late in the day we ended up working to a very tight deadline on a complex build. We The detail of open aisles to maximize usable floor space meant that some creative thinking was needed for anchoring the frame which we achieved with the design of a unique piled raft foundations and reinforced slab with a special plinth detail on which to securely fix the frame. In total we worked six months on this build, three months in our framing yard assembling the frame and the three months on site. Without exception everyone that has been to see the Old Kent Barn's new venue has been delighted, with descriptions like beautiful, outstanding and stunning being used.
